At 6,000 Feet in the Sky Over Texas,
Pat Spaulding Learned What She Was Made Of
“You can’t get the teacher out of the teacher,” says Pat, who takes time from her busy real estate profession to tutor students.

Pat is her grandchildren’s best cheerleader, at competitions and artistic performances.

Nowhere is Pat’s focus more evident than when she takes time to sit down and listen to clients, to understand their dreams.

.

On a clear day in late summer, novice instrument pilot Pat Spaulding took off from Houston’s Andrau Airport in her Cessna 150. On her first solo instrument flight, the then 20-something businesswoman was headed for Dallas’ Addison Airport, to meet friends and fellow aviators at a convention of The Ninety-Nines, an international organization of licensed women pilots. “Less than three miles out, I found myself in clouds and never saw the ground from the air again,” Pat recalls.

As the weather changed and ice formed on the wings of her single-engine aircraft, visibility slipped to below minimum at the runway of her destination. With no visual reference and gas becoming an issue (she’d left without reserves, since the weather was fair), the neophyte aviator found herself rerouted to Love Field. While such a low visibility situation might rattle even experienced aviators, Pat calmly monitored her instruments, tightened her seat belt and focused on the air controller’s instructions, as he talked her through piloting the craft to a three-point landing. “The only thing that made it less than perfect was that it was on a runway at the wrong airport.”

Clearly, focus has been an important asset in Pat’s airborne accomplishments. In business, it’s also been among the traits that helped her rise from administrative ranks at a Houston property management firm to president of its multi-family home division. Following that experience, she became vice president of Builders’ Interests Property Company, supervising 60 employees responsible for daily operation of a firm with over 3000 apartments in 17 properties throughout Texas.

Pushing herself to new heights, this focused businesswoman then returned to school to earn her degree and teacher’s certification at the University of Houston at the same time she was raising a family. For 11 years she taught Spanish in the renowned Katy Independent School District. To fuel her personal passion—flying—she also became a flight instructor and managed to get in time co-piloting a Lear Jet and competing in transcontinental air races.

When she steps away from business and personal passions, this accomplished professional enjoys spending time with her nine grandchildren and her tiny white poodle, Maddie.

Making Dreams Soar
Clearly, focus was important that fateful summer day in the cockpit. These days, it’s an essential component of Pat Spaulding’s real estate career. Using skills developed as a teacher and flight instructor, this practiced communicator provides buyers and sellers with the information they need to make sound, unclouded decisions. Throughout the process, she draws on leadership abilities honed in business management and uses her expertise as a facilitator to create alliances with mortgage, title and escrow professionals that ensure the smooth progress of all transactions.

When you’re looking for a real estate professional who can produce High Flying Results in Cinco Ranch, Katy, Houston and environs—whether you’re relocating to the area, seeking a new residence for your growing family or selling your home—this focused specialist can help you land the home of your dreams.
